Minecraft Island

This week we have made a Minecraft desert island. I built it with Leon. It has all the details in the slide. So read that. I really liked to make the island. But with all the fun you have to do writing about what you have made. It is good at making you writing because the more you make the more you write.

Have you used Minecraft and made something, if so what did you make and why?

The Great New Zealand Tour

Last week and this week we have been making a plan for a tour around Nz, it's not real though. On our trip, four people are going on the trip, two adults and two children for when looking at prices of motels and hotels, flying going on boats etc. Our budget for the trip is 10 grand. Also for a day in a car is $50 and half a day in a car is 25$ for the fuel. We had to write down the places we go in order on a google sheet, then we had to write down the amount of money for each place. And for the food, we had to go onto the restaurant's website to see the menu and have a look to see the prices of the food we want to get. Then when we are finished the day we have to use a tool in google sheets, to sum up, all the prices. And we can use the formula tool to see how much we have spent. You can use it to do math equations really easy. And with that, you can use it to see how much you have spent. And how much left you have to  Then how much you are probably gonna spend, and so on.

Have you ever been on a big trip around your country, if so where did you go?

Time Capsule

This week we have been writing letters to ourselves for 50 years. We will put all of our letters in a box and bury it. We had to write the letter online then we had to write it all down onto paper. We had to put our details so it will be easier to track us down in the future. Well, that's if we're alive of course. We also had to write about life in 2021 so far like the Olympics. I really enjoyed writing the letter.

Have you ever write a time capsule?

Outstanding Olympics

This week the Olympics started. We have been watching the Olympics. We watched a Triathalon, the rugby sevens, swimming, BMX, and kayaking. Unfortunately, the all-black sevens lost against Fiji but in the end, got silver. For reading, we have been doing Olympics tasks. For one of the tasks, we had to pick three Olympics people to write about. I chose Andrew Knewstubb, Anton Cooper, and Rebecca Petch. I really like learning about the Olympics.

Have you been watching the Olympics?

Banana Clicker

We have been making scratch games. I made a scratch game with Jack R. It is called Banana Clicker. It is a game where you have to click a banana. Each time you click a banana you get 1 more score. With your scores, you can get better bananas and auto bananas. We are still working on the game so it is not finished. I like scratch. We do scratch because it teaches us how to become problem solvers. Also, it teaches us how to code and things like Problem Solving or Debugging.  Sometimes if feels frustrating to have problems you can solve but eventually we work them out.
Have you ever used scratch?

Emily Carr

We have been learning to paint like Emily Carr with Mrs Swinburn. Emily liked to paint trees. She was born on 13 December 1871 and died on 2 March 1945. She had a technique where she did swirls. For our latest art, we had a piece of paper and sponged it with two colours. I chose yellow and orange. Then we sketched on a goose paper how we were going to do our trees. Mrs. Swinburn put the piece of sponged paper on a white piece of paper. Next, we got the piece of paper that we sponged and drew the sketch with black paint. After that she put the paper on a black piece of paper, then we signed out names initials. Then we were done.

Did you know about Emily Carr?

Fake News

Last week we were learning about how to identify fake websites. Like the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus. This is fake, obviously. We learned how to know if these are fake or not. One of the techniques is to see if it’s a joke. It might be too outlandish, which means it’s obvious. Also, you can check the sources, do they match the story? I really liked learning about how to identify fake websites. Now I know how to identify fake websites. Do you know any fake websites?
